My current research focuses on understanding the complex dynamics of multiple degrees of freedom such as lattice, charge, and magnetic ordering in correlated materials. I have been innovating new tools using low-energy (THz to mid-IR) pump, multi-wavelength probe (THz, optical and x-ray) techniques with enhanced spatial resolution. In particular, I am interested in the phenomena that occur on nanometer to micrometer length scales where the energy conversion and transport cannot be simply predicted by conventional theory.

The material systems that I have been mainly working on include ferroelectrics (PbTiO3, BaTiO3), multiferroics (BiFeO3), metal-to-insulator transition materials(VO2, LaSrFeO3), iridates (Sr2IrO4) and transition metal dichalcogenides. My research is supported by Department of Energy, Office of Science, Basic Energy Sciences.
